A moment donné Mordillat demande à Jean-Marie Salamito: “Croyez-vous que Jésus ait été ressucité?” Salamito, au lieu de refuser de répondre ou d’expliquer que la question n’est pas pertinent au débat, explique de façon un peu embrouillée (ou trop technique) en quoi les données historiques ne s’opposent pas à l’hypothèse de la ressurection. Il manque là l’attaque de fond sur la démarche de Mordillat: pourquoi pose-t-il la question de la croyance de Salamito, qui n’est en rien l’objet de la discussion, sinon pour pouvoir le disqualifier? C’est-à-dire que derrière la question il y a l’idée que discuter de l’histoire du christianisme est interdit à un catholique parce que sa croyance lui barre l’accès à l’objectivité.

Ce qui est mis en cause là, c’est le partage critique qui a permis le développement des études religieuses, voire même de la science elle-même lorsque la domination idéologique était celle de l’Eglise. Je dis partage critique, je pourrais aussi bien dire la laïcisation de la science, à savoir le principe de séparation entre les croyances du savant (etc.) et les thèses qu’il défend dans le champ scientifique, thèses jugées non pas en fonction des croyances de celui qui les émet mais selon des procédures propres au champ scientifique lui-même (cohérence logique, conformité à l’expérience vérifiable…).

On voit bien l’astuce de Mordillat: pour la doxa contemporaine, déclarer croire en la ressurection de Jésus littéralement, c’est se disqualifier. La manoeuvre est subtilement démagogique.

“Car l’apparence scientifique du propos masque un a priori idéologique qui, montre-t-il, se résume dans une affirmation plusieurs fois répétée : “Jésus annonçait le royaume, et c’est l’Eglise qui est venue.” Cette citation du grand historien Alfred Loisy (1857-1940) prouverait, selon les réalisateurs, que l’Eglise s’est montrée plus préoccupée d’asseoir son pouvoir que de précipiter la réalisation du message évangélique. Ainsi Mordillat et Prieur défendraient-ils une thèse résolument antichrétienne, celle de la trahison de Jésus par les siens. L’ennui, souligne Salamito, est que la citation est utilisée à contre-sens par Mordillat et Prieur. Car Loisy affirme au contraire qu’entre le discours de Jésus et l’Eglise de notre temps, il n’y a pas de rupture, mais simplement le travail du temps, donc des adaptations aux nécessités du moment. Sans l’Eglise, la prédication du Galiléen aurait sombré dans l’oubli comme celles de tant d’autres prophètes de la même époque.”
